On the 24th October I received a note from Lieut. Colonel John Pope Hennessey. I called upon him in consequence the next morning. It was a very painful matter which had occurred during his absence. He regretted that I had not waited for his return before seeing Dr. Eitel. That Dr. Eitel had not given, so far as he understood, an accurate account of circumstances which had taken place between Hennessey & Mr. Hayllar, and that he had probably confused what His Excellency had told him with what he had heard besides.
